Cost-aware Internet Security Decision Model

This survey aims to understand Internet users' knowledge and perception of  Internet security and its configuration frameworks. The output of this study will act as an input in the design of a measurements-driven user-centred Internet security decision model to allow users easily configure desired level of Internet protection, informed by performance costs of security settings. Your views and experience is greatly valuable, and we are grateful for your time and participation.

Thank you for taking part in this research. This survey is completely anonymous. Where feasible, explicit consent request of information disclosure is provided. Informed Voluntary Consent to Participate in Research Study

Project Title: Cost-aware Internet Security Model

Invitation to participate: You are invited to participate in a research study conducted with Internet users. The study aims to investigate the use of a cost-aware Internet security decision model to allow users, especially those with limited computing skills, to easily configure cost-aware security options that can map to complex security mechanisms to achieve Confidentiality, Integrity, Authentication and Privacy (CIAP). I believe that your views and experience would be a valuable source of information, and hope that by participating you may gain useful knowledge.

Procedures: During this study, you will be asked to complete a questionnaire. You may also be asked to participate in a workshop where you will be given a tool to complete a security configuration task and to provide feedback about the tool and the configuration task.

Risks: There are no potentially harmful risks related to your participation in this study.

Feedback: Your input to this study will be used to design a security configuration framework. You may be asked to participate in a workshop to interact and evaluate the framework. This will form part of the feedback about your input to our study.
